Film Posters and Covers Analysis for Genre and Audience

The first cover we analysed was The Others. This Cover uses Mise en Scene well. The lighting is used to show the supernatural side of the film. The only light on the cover is the candle she is holding which shows her face, which reveals a scared facial expression.
I think this would be seen as a Supernatural thriller for young adults, age around 14-25.
The Others

Fair Game is another film cover we analysed. The cover reveals that this film is a Political Thriller. This is shown with firstly, costume. All costumes on the front cover are very formal, showing the spectator this is a serious film. Also, the graphics used show an underlying meaning which shows this is a Political Thriller.
This Political Thriller is aimed at adults ages 20+. The font here is also very political themed, which is put together with a formal colour scheme.

Target Audience

The target audience for films is always a huge aspect that the film makers look into. There is a variety of people out there who watch different films. Audiences vary depending on mostly age and gender, but other factors are also a big issue. Someones home background would come into it (class) to establish which types of films they would be brought up to view. Upper or Middle class for example you would expect to be into watching political thrillers, whereas the Working class would be expected to be more into horror's or supernatural thrillers.
